The government adopted amendments to the Excise Tax Law which abolish different excise duties for different types of oil derivatives. The decision levies the same excise duties for all types of gasoline and all types of diesel. Government introduces single excise tax for fuel According to the bill, the same excise duty rate of RSD 49.5 per liter will be valid for all types of gasoline, while the one for diesel fuels will amount to RSD 37 per liter. Consumers in Serbia may expect an increase in the price of fuel due to the leveling of excise duties for oil derivatives, since the price of gasoline will rise by more than RSD 4.5, and the price of diesel by more than RSD 2 per liter, Tanjug learned from Oil and Gas Advisor with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce (PKS) Ljubinko Savic. By abolishing different excise duties for different types of oil derivatives and introducing the same excise duties for all types of gasoline and all types of diesel, the government has restored the practice which it has applied in the recent years, Savic recalled. The European Commission urged Serbia to level excise duties on oil derivatives, because, as they put it, the amendments to the Excise Tax Law, which at the beginning of 2011 introduced different excise duties on oil derivatives of different quality, violated the Interim Trade Agreement between the EU and Serbia. The government met in Belgrade on Thursday (Beta)
