Defense lawyer teams for former Croatian generals Ante Gotovina and Mladen Markac have filed a notice of appeal with the Hague Tribunal, it has been reported. The move comes in a bid to challenge the verdict convicting the two men to 24 and 18 years in prison respectively, for war crimes committed during and after a Croatia's 1995 Operation Storm, which targeted the country's Serb-populated Krajina region. After that the other party has a period of 40 days to respond to the announcement of appeal, after which both parties are given additional 15 days to respond to the respondent's brief.
