Police in the southern town of Leskovac said they had arrested one of their colleagues and a town administration registrar. They have been detained on suspicion that they issued personal documents based on false claims. Registrar, policeman arrested over documents Novica C. and Bojan Dj. are suspected of issuing ID cards and passports to persons from the area of Kosovo. They were arrested as they were handing over a complete set of personal documents to a three-member Roma family from Kosovo. Police said that they believed that during the past several months the registrar issued fake certificates to non-residents of Lebane, attesting that they owned property there, while the policeman registered them as Lebane residents. Based on this, they received birth certificates, and later ID cards and passports. More checks of documents and officials have been announced in other police stations in the Jablanica District.
