United Regions of Serbia (URS) leader Mladjan Dinkic believes that parliamentary elections will be held in April 2012. He pointed out that his party would independently take part in the elections. URS leader expects elections in “late April” Dinkic stressed that he would not mind if the new government consisted of the same parties that made the current one. “We expect elections in the end of April next year,” he told daily Vecernje novosti, adding that he had made the assessment after talking to his coalition partners. Dinkic also pointed out that he did not consider making any pre-election coalitions. “It is certain that the URS will take part in the elections on its own,” he said. The URS leader has denied that petition for Serbia’s decentralization is a part of the election campaign and added that the URS would begin its campaign on October 2 in Belgrade. He explained that the URS would not cooperate with parties that opposed Serbia’s decentralization and that Serbia’s EU path was just as important. Dinkic said that new cooperation with the Democratic Party (DS) would depend on the DS’ opinion about the URS’ proposals for the country’s decentralization. When asked how realistic it was that his party would form a coalition with the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) after the elections, he avoided giving a direct answer by saying that he “is not thinking about what the next government will look like at all” at the moment. The URS leader added, however, that he would never forget SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic and deputy leader Aleksandar Vucic’s lies about him. Dinkic pointed out that he did not change his opinion about Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic and stressed that he was not fit for the position. Mladjan Dinkic (Tanjug)
