War Crimes Prosecutor Vladimir Vukcevic says the authorities on several occasions negotiated with the families of Hague indictees Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic. This came before 2007 and in an effort to get the two to surrender, the prosecutor told Belgrade-based Danas daily. Authorities "negotiated" with Hague fugitives' families He added that he was "still willing to discuss it". "I am also willing to negotiate with their families, so we could close this issue and prevent further pressure against Serbia caused by them being on the run. Even today, I call upon them to surrender and show real patriotism and prevent their families and friends from being put in an uncomfortable situation," Vukcevic told the newspaper. Otherwise, the authorities are going to take advantage of the law on property confiscation and seize the assets of all who are connected with the two, Vukcevic warned. "We immediately check every new piece of information (about Mladic and Hadzic) and hope that it might just be the thing that leads us to them," he remarked. Vukcevic believes that all of the sources of funding helping them stay in hiding have been cut off. The prosecutor said he expected the forthcoming report on Serbia's cooperation, to be submitted to the UN Security Council by Chief Hague Prosecutor Serge Brammertz, to be "objective". Asked what kind of report would be considered "satisfactory" for Serbia, Vukcevic said that "there will not be a satisfactory report until Mladic and Hadzic are in the Hague".
