Serbia's Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic says that the first results of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue can be expected at the second meeting in late March. "It is very important that these talks have started, and the satisfaction of all sides in the process - the Albanian, Serbian and the international community, in this case the EU, shows that difficult issues can only be solved through dialogue. In future talks, toward the end of March, we can expect the first results," he told Tanjug. Kosovo minister: First results at next meeting The minister noted it was in the interest of both the Serbs and the Albanians in Kosovo, as well as Serbia, to arrive at solutions for some issues troubling both communities as soon as possible, and that the problems had obviously piled up in recent years when there had been no dialogue. The minister pointed out, however, that the talks Pristina likes to refer to as "technical" were about life issues, which could not be called technical. "Some relations which exist between the two communities cannot be called technical. These problems are encumbered by political issues, such as the status of Kosovo," he said. The minister also expressed concern that the resolution on the dialogue, passed by the Kosovo parliament, could be restrictive to Pristina's delegation. "I am afraid the resolution is just an alibi for some hard-line positions and actions of Pristina's negotiating team, but only time will tell. I hope I'll be proven wrong," he said and added it is surprising that the Serbian Independent Liberal Party (SLS) also voted in favor of the resolution. "There has already been a strong reaction from Kosovo Serbs, especially those south of the Ibar River, that by voting for this resolution, members of this party directly acknowledged Kosovo as an independent country," the minister stressed. He warned this could only lead to deeper discord among the political parties in the region. "As far as Serbia is concerned, we will never recognize Kosovo's independence, but, at the same time, we will do everything to improve the life of Serbs who are the most disadvantaged segment of Kosovo's population, and of course Albanians and all other ethnic communities that live there," Bogdanovic concluded.
