Parliament Speaker Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic has called a parliament meeting for today with government proposed amendments and additions on the agenda. They include amendments to the laws on government and ministries. MPs receive laws on government, ministries Draft amendments and additions to the Law on Government and the Law on Ministries were made on March 7 by the Serbian government in an emergency procedure, and they are expected to go into effect on the day they are published in the Official Gazette, Beta news agency reports. Under the proposed amendments to the Law on Government, it is envisaged that the prime minister and deputy president will be able to be ministers at the same time. "Members of government, state secretaries and directors of special government organizations and departments [are] obliged to respect and execute compulsory instructions and special duties given to them by the prime minister in accordance with the program and policies of the government," says the draft. The draft law envisages that from the submission of a proposal to remove a member of government until the parliament makes a decision, the minister in question will not be able to perform his or her duties and they will be given to a government member authorized by the prime minister.
