The state needs to strip Muamer Zukorlic of the levers of power and money he uses to control and intimidate citizens, Urban-in NGO Director Aida Corovic said. “A kind of organized crime is at work in Sandzak and institutions need to punish everything that’s exceeding a religious community’s framework,” she told daily Blic. “Mufti should be stripped of power” The daily writes that the NGO director was given police protection two days ago after she had received threats from Islamic Community in Serbia Chief Mufti Muamer Zukorlic. Corovic stressed that the Zukorlic case and everything that followed it was a result of the fact that the state had been sweeping the problems under the rug.
