“Kosovo government not promising”

Serbian Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic says that the new Kosovo government does not promise that it will provide better future for Serbs or Albanians. “The governments lacking in credibility and authority are prone to take rash moves under pressure and take up hard-line stances in order to compensate for their dysfunction and gain public support,” he told daily Politika, adding that this posed a great threat to the Serb community. “Kosovo government not promising” Bogdanovic is of the opinion that as soon as it faces its first serious obstacle, the Kosovo government will resort to certain extreme moves, start creating tensions and mounting pressures on Kosovo Serbs, so as to secure the support it needs to survive. “We have already witnessed this in Kosovo, and the local Albanians have met such moves with approval,” the minister was quoted as saying. The new Kosovo government of Prime Minister Hashim Thaci has five deputy prime ministers and 18 ministries. Three ministries are headed by the representatives of the Serb Independent Liberal Party (SLS). An SLS member and minister for local self-government, Slobodan Petrovic, will now also hold the position of deputy prime minister. Bogdanović is of the opinion that as soon as it faces its first serious obstacle, the Kosovo government will resort to certain extreme moves, start creating tensions and mounting pressures on Kosovo Serbs, so as to secure the support it needs to survive.
