VS stages military exercise in Belgrade

The Serbian Army (VS) performed an exercise in Belgrade on Sunday on the occasion of the Day of the Serbian Armed Forces, which is marked on February 15. VS Chief of the General Staff Lt. Gen. Miloje Miletic has assessed that the military exercise dubbed “Usce 2011” was successful. VS stages military exercise in Belgrade A large number of citizens attended the excerise. Miletic stressed that it was just another indicator that people had confidence in the VS. He also explained that a significantly larger number of members of the Serbian armed forces had participated in this year’s exercise comparing to last year. The VS also presented the units trained for the UN peacekeeping missions. The exercise, which engaged about 1,000 members of the VS, was attended by top state and military officials including President Boris Tadic, Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Defense Minister Dragan Sutanovac and Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Ivica Dacic, members of the diplomatic corps and foreign military envoys, the Serbian Defense Ministry announced. The participants were members of three units: motorized infantry, Nuclear Biological Chemical Defense and military police whose training was launched in February 2010. Members of the Special Brigade, River Flotilla, Air Force and Air Defense also took part in the exercise. (FoNet)
