The Serbian government has lost its authority, says one of the deputy PMs and the country's economy minister, Mladjan Dinkic. The leader of G17 Plus party and the United Regions of Serbia told Belgrade's Vecernje Novosti daily that "essential changes" were therefore necessary. Minister says government "lost authority" The government "must work much better, more efficiently", he told the daily, adding that its leadership "must be much more serious, and authority recovered". "Only if there are major changes we can expect improvement for the citizens and victory in the next parliamentary elections. If nothing changes, the ruling parties will see a convincing defeat," warned Dinkic, and said his "colleagues" were also aware of this. "I spoke about this with my friend Boris Tadic. I'm convinced that he will have the strength to make the right moves, and I will support him. We spoke about that a lot in the past days and weeks," he was quoted as saying. Apart from urging personnel changes, Dinkic also wants to see "more effort in other areas". "If we managed to bring in Fiat, Benetton, Panasonic, Falke, and are in negotiations with dozens of big companies, we can have results in other areas as well," said he, and advised more visits "in the field", and more sensitivity toward the citizens and their problems. Dinkic would also like to see "adoption of constructive objections made by unions and experts and their implementation". As for his fellow G17 official and minister Tomica Milosavljevic who recently resigned his health portfolio, and the party's proposal to have Zoran Stankovic elected for the post, Dinkic said the latter would be "a good heir to Milosavljevic". Dinkic stated that he was convinced Stankovic would be elected for the office, and added he spoke about this with the country's president and ruling DS party leader Boris Tadic.
