Talks will officially begin on Monday on the forming of a new Kosovo government in Pristina, said reports. This comes after elections where Hashim Thaci's Democratic Party of Kosovo won a majority of votes, but not enough to form government alone. Talks on new govternment in Pristina Thaci will not have many options in putting together a permanent cabinet, as he can form a sustainable ruling coalition only with the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the largest parties of minorities, writes Tanjug. Meanwhile, the New Kosovo Alliance's condition for entering the government is to be given the position of Kosovo president. The new government is expected to be formed by February 17, on the third anniversary of the ethnic Albanian unilateral proclamation of independence. Thaci also faces a problem of "fulfilling the explicit request of the international community not to include in the government the people with prior convictions or those against whom an investigation is carried out, which primarily refers to his party's Vice-President Fatmir Limaj," according to the news agency. Member of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) - a Serb party operating south of the Ibar River - Nenad Rasicc told Tanjug that"out of 12.5 percent of jobs in the Kosovo administration envisaged for non-Albanian communities, Kosovo Serbs are entitled to 8.5 percent". "There are about 4,500 Serbs currently employed in Kosovo public administration, and we are entitled to another 4,500 positions," Rasic believes. This party "also expect that in the future Kosovo government they will have more than two ministries that they currently hold", said the report. Hashim Thaci (Beta, file)
