Ivica Dacic says "certain countries are willing to ratify the Stabilization and Association Agreement (SAA) only on condition that Serbia recognizes Kosovo". "Thanks to the opposition of five member states, the European Union, for now, does not have a unanimous stance that Serbia has to recognize Kosovo's independence," the interior minister and first deputy PM told journalists in Belgrade. "Belgrade wants historic agreement" “Efforts are being made to find additional reasons and conditions. Every country will try to impose a condition which is important for them. Some countries will use this opportunity to settle the ownership status of Serbian embassies on their territory, others the future of their companies in Serbia, but some will link this to Serbia's recognition of Kosovo's independence,” Dacic said. Serbia is committed to reaching a historic agreement between Serbs and Albanians, which would “remove the issue from the agenda once and for all” and prevent further blackmailing of the country, Dacic underlined. What is important is that with the ratification of the SAA in the European Parliament Serbia has made still another step forward on its European pathway and the Interior Ministry will assist as much as possible in that process, Dacic said.
