An official of the Kosovo Albanian government in Pristina says the Kosovo human organ trafficking report has had a negative impact. Deputy Foreign Minister in the Thaci government Vlora Citaku stated Tuesday that the report by Special Rapporteur of the Council of Europe (CoE) Dick Marty "tarnished Kosovo's image jeopardizing the process of its further recognition". "Marty report bad for Kosovo recognitions" Commenting Marty's report identifying Hashim Taci as the boss of a mafia-style group engaged in trafficking in human organ harvested from missing Kosovo Serbs, Citaku stated at a press conference in Pristina that she expects the Albanian Foreign Ministry and other friendly countries to lobby for recognition of Kosovo's independence. Citaku said that 2010 was "successful for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs", taking an example of the ruling by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which she said "legalized Kosovo's declaration of independence". Citaku also cited the adoption of the Serbia-EU Resolution on the ICJ advisory opinion by the UN General Assembly as an example of the successes achieved by her ministry. Eight countries recognized Kosovo in 2010, out of the total of 72 that have made the move since the Kosovo Albanian unilateral proclamation, made in February 2008, and rejected by Belgrade.
