Former Croatian PM Ivo Sanader stated before an Austrian judge on Monday that he does not wish to be extradited to Croatia. He is wanted in his country on corruption charges. Ex-Croat PM opposes extradition Sanader attended the court council session at which the decision was made to remand him in prison for another month, as he is deemed a flight risk. Sanader decided against accepting to be extradited on advice of his lawyers, who said they had not yet seen the Croatian prosecution's documents relating to the charges brought against their client. The investigation against Sanader was launched on December 9, and he fled Croatia one day before his MP immunity expired. He was arrested near Salzburg on December 10, and during the first interrogation he pleaded not guilty for the charges brought against him by Croatia. It was decided then that the request for extradition will be considered upon the expiration of his 14-day custody. Sanader has already been questioned twice by the Austrian authorities about the Hypo Bank affair and the charges of money laundering in a Tyrol (Austria) bank. Austria's investigation on money laundering could be a good argument for the Austrian judges to extend Sanader's custody, said reports earlier today, as he is once again to be questioned about these charges in mid-January.
