EU representatives and regional officials said at the Democratic Party (DS) Electoral Convention that Serbia's EU future was guaranteed thanks to the DS. Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou addressed the delegates and guests via video link to say that Serbia was fast approaching the EU, and that the DS was giving a great contribution to a European and modern Serbia, as well as to the strengthening of its democratic institutions. “Serbia's EU future certain thanks to DS” MEP Zoran Thaler said that the EU was hungry for Serbia, and Party of European Socialists leader Paul Rasmussen stressed DS' major contribution to regional reconciliation and European integration. MEPs Maria Muniz and Zita Gurmai noted they supported Serbia in its aspirations to become an EU member as soon as possible, noting that its European future was guaranteed thanks to DS. Republic of Srpska (RS) President Milorad Dodik stated that DS and its coalition partners carried the responsibility for Serbia's wellbeing, and added that the RS rightfully considered Serbia its most important partner. Albanian Deputy Prime Minister Ilir Meta stressed that the two countries shared a common goal - a future in Europe, noting they were ready to cooperate in achieving that goal and work to improve bilateral relations.
