The level of corruption in Serbia has increased over the past three years and the government has had less success in dealing with the problem, Beta reports. The report quoted an opinion poll dubbed "The 2010 Global Corruption Barometer," unveiled in Belgrade on Thursday. Corruption level in Serbia increases According to the poll, 25 percent of participants believe the level of corruption has greatly increased over the last three years, 23 percent think it has increased only slightly, 36 percent that it is the same, 10 percent that it has decreased somewhat, four percent that it has decreased greatly, and another four percent say they do not know. The average mark for the government's results in the battle against corruption has deteriorated from last year's 2.38 to 2.24. The Global Corruption Barometer poll has been conducted by Transparency International, in association with Gallup International, for the past six years and was this year carried out in 86 states. In Serbia the poll was conducted on a sample of 1,007 in July.
