Two-month deadline which Serbia has to answer the EC questionnaire was set by the commission, says Director of the EU Integration Office Milica Delevic. The question is whether the government will manage to answer over 2,000 questions in such a short time. “Answering questionnaire challenging job” Delevic points out that the deadline was set by the EC and that its representatives said they would appreciate if they received the answers by the end of January. “We've been preparing it by using the questionnaires which were not different than the one which we received. It will be a challenging job, we will do our best and I hope that we will make it, but we will primarily make sure that the quality of answers is good,“ she explained. “Such a short deadline, unlike other countries that had more time to write answers to their questionnaires, was given to Serbia because the EC assessed that Serbia had capacity to provide answers within the proposed deadline since it has been preparing and because the EC praised our administrative capacity,“ the head of the EU Integration Office stressed. She points out that one should differentiate between the EC questionnaire, which essentially describes the present condition and the Action plan which will be a set of measures aimed at improving the curent situation, considering that the EC questionnaire covers all segments of society, from functioning of the rule of law, cooperation with The Hague and all the way to dialogue with Pristina. “In that sense I don't think that it would be hard for anyone to describe the existing condition accurately and verifiably when we answer the questionnaire. The challenge will be coordination that all questions are of equal quality, that there is no repeating or missing parts,“ Delevic emphasized. “The second challenge will be improvement of the condition by adopting various measures and their fulfillment in the Action plan,” she concluded.
