EULEX chief Xavier Bout de Marnhac ended his first visit to Belgrade since assuming the post in Kosovo and Metohija. According to a statement issued by EULEX, he received support from his interlocutors and EU officials. EULEX and increased presence in north Tanjug was told by EULEX that during the Belgrade talks Marnhac underlined the importance of promotion of the rule of law in Kosovo, including the northern part, and pointed to the importance of tackling organized crime, particularly drugs and weapons trafficking. The head of mission said that EULEX will increase its presence and activities in northern, predominantly Serb part of Kosovo. He also underlined the importance of resolving recent incidents in this area, EULEX stated. Marnhac finds it important to keep communication lines open so as to strengthen confidence, concentrate on the issues of the rule of law and avoid misunderstandings, Tanjug reported.
