Boris Tadic believes that state officials should not receive salary increases while the crisis lasts, and Mladjan Dinkic agrees. Dinkic, leader of the ruling G17 Plus and economy minister in the current cabinet, said on Tuesday in Belgrade that this increase can be postponed until April 2011. President, minister "agree about salaries" Dinkic thus agreed with the Serbian president and ruling DS leader as they toured a factory in Belgrade together, after several days in which these officials made opposing statements. The president told reporters yesterday that "we may have different opinions in the government as well, this is a democracy". "I think officials should not receive higher salaries as long as the situation is what it is," Tadic added. "What we agreed on this time is that it is not right for officials to have low salaries, but not on when they should be increased." "There are no essential differences of opinion, if it's necessary for ministers to symbolically be the first who will not receive salaries (sic), then OK," Dinkic was quoted as saying. When reporters noted that he said salaries will not be increased during the crisis, Tadic asked "humorously" - "are you trying to set us against one another". The Serbian president also stated that there was "no bad atmosphere" in the cabinet of Mirko Cvetkovic, and that the government "did not enter an election campaign".
