Serbian government’s decision that there are no conditions for Kosovo Serbs to vote in the elections was made after serious analysis, Goran Bogdanović said.

Serbian government’s decision that there are no conditions for Kosovo Serbs to vote in the elections was made after serious analysis, Goran Bogdanovic said. “We took into account the real situation in the field which is complex, because the position of Serbs differs depending on the part of the province in which they live,” Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanovic told Belgrade-based daily Politika. Kosovo minister: Decision made after serious analyses The Kosovo minister added that the decision was made after extensive consultations he had with representatives of Serbs south of the Ibar River and in the Kosovo north. Commenting on the term of “lack of conditions”, he said it meamt that the elections were organized by the entity which Serbia did not recognize and that the international community did not provide the elections with any kind of framework that would be acceptable for the Serbian community. “As the dialogue is close at hand, we do not want to make a move that might be understood as supporting or recognizing Kosovo independence,” Bogdanovic explained, emphasizing that the government was unanimous in its policy towards Kosovo. Pointing out that the Serbs south of the Ibar River are in difficult position, as they live in a completely Albanian surrounding and under constant pressure, he said he understood some of the representatives of Serbs who would run in the elections. Bogdanovic said that it was important for the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue to begin as soon as possible, and in a constructive atmosphere.
