This is according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Regional Development Mladjan Dinkic, who spoke in Belgradd on Wednesday. "Serbia has 51,000 women entrepreneurs" At today's conference of the Association of Business Women of Serbia which discussed establishment of cooperation between women entrepreneurs of Serbia and Germany, Dinkic specified that women occupy managing positions in one fifth of the companies in Serbia and that the number of women leaders had doubled compared to a couple of years ago. There is a growing trend in Serbia when it comes to the participation of women in running companies, and about four fifths of women entrepreneurs work outside the country's capital, Dinkic pointed out. According to Dinkic, women, as a rule, are engaged in more sophisticated businesses, such as finances, computer engineering and information technologies, and in some areas they prove to be more successful than men. Dinkic expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Germany's women entrepreneurs will become partners of Serbia's businesswomen, since Germany is one of Serbia's most important foreign trade partners. He underscored that Serbia is not an exception in regard to the participation of women in politics, recalling that 18 percent of the cabinet members and 21 percent of the parliament members are women. Today's conference marks the beginning of a joint project dubbed "Businesswomen to Businessmen," which will open new possibilities for the development of female entrepreneurship.
