Cooperation and establishing of institutional ties within the Danube strategy were discussed by high officials of Vojvodina and Bavaria. The Bavarian delegation, headed by Bavarian State Minister for Federal and European Affairs Emilia Mueller, conferred with AP (Autonomous Province) Vojvodina Assembly Speaker Sandor Egresi, President of the AP Vojvodina Government Bojan Pajtic, Novi Sad Mayor Igor Pavlicic and others. Egresi pointed to the importance of the recently established parliamentary cooperation between Vojvodina and Bavaria, and assessed that this is the best way for the two regions to establish institutional ties and exchange experience, all in keeping with the protocol on cooperation which Serbia and Bavaria signed 40 years ago. “It is up to us to additionally strengthen this long-lasting tradition of friendship and partnership, which is further complemented by active economic cooperation,” Egresi pointed out and added that the cooperation on the Danube strategy provides additional framework and considerable potentials for deepening the relations between the two regions. Pajtic said that the cooperation between the governments of Vojvodina and Bavaria represents a clear sign that Serbia's northern province is a stable region and a credible partner, and that Serbia is getting closer to the moment of its EU membership. Mueller pointed out that the entire Serbia, and AP Vojvodina in particular, is on the right path to the EU. The Bavarian official underlined that an agreement has been made regarding the intensification of economic cooperation through joint efforts aimed at increasing the number of German investors in Vojvodina. Within the framework of the Danube strategy, two regions' representatives also agreed to help strengthen cooperation in the domains of high education, science, energy, justice system, culture and many other areas, Mueller said.
