The right-wing Croatian Party of Rights (HPS) will hold a protest in Vukovar to send a message that Serbian President Boris Tadic is not welcome in that city. During the visit of Croatian President Ivo Josipovic to Belgrade in July this year, a possibility that Tadic would come to Vukovar was mentioned. "Tadic not welcome in Vukovar" Upon his return to Zagreb, Josipovic said that Tadic's visit to Vukovar would be stopped by no one and added that this visit would "mark the final breakup of current Serbian policy with its past policies." Zoran Kekic reports different attitudes. Members of HPS are saying that Vukovar is the sacred soil and those unwilling to admit that fact are not welcome in Croatia. A HPS member Stjepan Sterc said they were against Tadic's visit to Croatia because he denied all that had happened in Croatia in the early nineties. "This is the man who argues that liberation of Croatia was a criminal enterprise and advised that Gotovina should be put to trial. He made a number of statements that were inappropriate and belittling to the dignity of all of us who took part in the Homeland War. Therefore I believe we should raise our voice," Sterc said. Several hundred people will attend the rally in Vukovar, HPS announcements said, with support from war veterans from Vukovar to Dubrovnik. However, Tadic's visit is not the only reason for their dissatisfaction. HPS has a problem with announcements that an association of city councils with Serbian majority in Croatia will be established. Such announcements are unacceptable, says the HPS president Danijel Srb, who believes that decisions such as this one will lead to federalization, and will eventually transform Croatia to a binational state, an idea to which the HPS strongly objects. "When we talk about Serbian politicians in Croatia, we have to mention there is an agreement among them to find the best model for a binational state, a Croatia that would be federalized. This is what we are protesting against", said Srb. Srb believes that the latest Chetnik graffiti on a monument to Vukovar victims are a part of the policy being pushed for years. He finds these and similar events to be nothing but a continuation of the policy for Greater Serbia, planned and premeditated by those still wishing to see Vukovar within Serbian borders.
