Boris Tadic said that there is a very favorable climate currently within the EU for forwarding Serbia's candidacy application to the European Commission. The president added that Serbia must never give up on its accession into the Union. Tadic said that it is very important for Serbia to receive the EC questionnaire right after gaining candidate status. “The EU membership itself brings enormous funds, which in Serbia's case would be about EUR 2bn a year in grants. For as long as we lag behind with the accession into the EU, we are losing those funds and no one has the right to slow down the process of accession,” the Serbian president said.
