Serbian FM Vuk Jeremic has secured the support of Namibia in what media describe as the "battle for every UN General Assembly vote". This activity comes ahead of the UN General Assembly meeting on September 9, when Serbia's draft Kosovo resolution is expected to be discussed. "Battle for every UNGA vote" Jeremic met with his Namibian counterpart Utoni Nujoma in Windhoek on Thursday. Nujoma stressed after the meeting the importance of resolving problems in a peaceful manner, said reports. "Namibia's position was and remains that of support for Serbia's territorial integrity. We believe it is important to continue with dialogue and work on the reconciliation of the nations in the Balkans," the Namibian minister said, adding it was of utmost importance to continue with efforts to solve the crisis in a peaceful manner. Jeremic stated that his visit confirmed strong friendly ties between the two nations and stressed that cooperation will increase in the future, especially in the sectors of agriculture, pharmacy and the defense industry. "Namibia's position on Kosovo is clear, firm, and won't change. Namibia has not recognized Kosovo, nor will it ever do so," said he. Jeremic also announced that the African country will continue to diplomatically support Serbia in all international forums and debates, as Belgrade continues the diplomatic struggle to preserve Kosovo. Jeremic was in Lesotho on Friday, where he also secured the backing for Serbia's draft at the upcoming UN General Assembly session. "Serbia must achieve an outcome that will enable for her continued diplomatic efforts to preserve the sovereignty and territorial integrity, without losing sight of the strategic process of EU integrations," he told reporters. Jeremic believes that the days ahead of the September 9 session in New York call for "composure and responsible behavior". "We must not lose sight, not for one moment, of what we aim to achieve, and that is - not to have a decision adopted in New York that would support Kosovo's independence," said Jeremic. He added that Serbia was working intensively on finding common ground with all EU member-states.
