Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic met today in Pretoria with South Africa's International Relations and Cooperation Minister Maite Nkoana-Mashabane. Nkoana-Mashabane confirmed that her country will not change its decision not to recognize Kosovo. South Africa confirms stance on Kosovo Jeremic responded by expressing Serbia's deep gratitude for South Africa's principled support for Serbia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, FoNet news agency reported. "This position will not change, and this represents great encouragement for us," Jeremic said, and noted that South Africa was the continent's "indisputable leader". He also stressed that his hosts backed Serbia's initiative to find a compromise solution for the status of Kosovo, in line with principles and rules of the United Nations. The Serbian minister announced that Belgrade will support South Africa in all international forums, including that country's bid for a non-permanent seat at the UN Security Council. Nkoana-Mashabane and Jeremic discussed bilateral issue and announced numerous agreements in various areas. Eight bilateral agreements will be signed when the South African minister visits Serbia, it has been announced. Nkoana-Mashabane expressed her gratitude over Belgrade's decision to grant scholarships to South African students attending Serbian universities. According to her, Serbia is an important ally to South Africa in the international community arena.
