Hungarian PM has promised that his country will set aside funds to support the Hungarian National Council (NSM) in Serbia.

Hungarian PM has promised that his country will set aside funds to support the Hungarian National Council (NSM) in Serbia. "The Hungarian government will help NSM materially, as the highest organ of the cultural autonomy of Vojvodina's Hungarians," Orban said while visiting Palic, in northern Vojvodina. Hungary backs ethnic council in Vojvodina Orban's visit came on the invitation of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) party leader Istvan Pastor, on the occasion of Hungary's national holiday. Orban said that an agreement in general had been reached to realized the assistance program for NSM in the next three years. Pastor stated that the funds could be used for scholarships, setting up a collegium, and starting a network of school buses for ethnic Hungarian students. During the ceremony in Palic, Orban made particular emphasis on the importance of national cooperation, said reports. "Only if we act united we can become a successful nation in the 21st century Europe," the Hungarian premier stated, and spoke in favor of unity of "the Hungariandom in the Carpathian basin", as a condition for political, economic and cultural progress.
