LDP is asking for change in policies regarding Kosovo and for Serbia to write and submit a new resolution to the UN General Assembly. Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) President Cedomir Jovanovic said that a new resolution should be written in agreement with all parliamentary parties and with proposals from the European Union. LDP calls for new Kosovo resolution “Instead of heeding the proposal of LDP for the resolution to be written with the EU, they quickly sent a text without intentions of getting the support of the member-states of an organization they want to be a part of one day. Now we have to find understanding for Serbia in the world and achieve our interests in agreement with the EU and America,” Jovanovic said. He said that Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremic’s statement that getting the majority of support for the resolution in the UN General Assembly would be an “impossible mission” is just an alibi for poor policies. “Vuk Jeremic is trying to mask this today the same way (Tomislav) Nikolic and (Aleksandar) Vucic are, without taking responsibility for everything they have been doing for years. In politics, an ‘impossible mission’ means the end of a policy,” he said. Jovanovic added that it was clear from the beginning that the state policies were bound for failure, and that it is not an impossible mission today, but a defeat that someone needs to take responsibility for. “LDP insists on an immediate change in Kosovo policies, because its catastrophic consequences will endanger the already difficult situation of Serbs in Kosovo and ‘Kosovize’ the future of Serbia,” he said. Jovanovic said that Serbia needs new policies that call for turning towards a faster acceptance into the EU and NATO as a full-fledged member-state, the building of institutions, the market economy, a change in foreign policies, a continuation of the reform process, and the modernization of the society, while creating a socially responsible state.
