Fiat Executive Director Sergio Marchionne said that the production of two new models in Serbia would not hurt the Mirafiori Fiat factory in Italy. He said that the Italian factory produces enough expensive models to guarantee that it would have enough work in the future. Fiat director on company’s plans After Marchionne stated that the production of two new Fiat models would be moved to Serbia, the public and the government in Italy protested, stating that it would decrease production and decrease the work force in Mirafiori. “These investments will take nothing away from Mirafiori,” he said. Marchionne also called for guarantees from unions that the factories in Italy would be able to work profitably, stating that, if an agreement cannot be reached, the group would have to seek work elsewhere.
