FM Vuk Jeremic expressed his expectation that the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ) will not be in favor of Kosovo's secession. Serbia's foreign minister stressed that it was extremely important for Serbs in Kosovo to remain calm and not respond to provocations. FM: ICJ will not support secession "If ICJ supported Kosovo's secession, no border in the world would ever be secure," Jeremic stated for Tanjug in The Hague, only a few hours before the issuing of ICJ's advisory opinion on the legality of the Kosovo Albanian unilateral declaration, made over two years ago, and rejected by Serbia. "We expect ICJ's opinion to be in accordance with international law, which is clear when it comes to the countries' sovereignty and territorial integrity," said Jeremic. He pointed out that, when the ICJ gives its ruling, Serbia's legal team which is accompanying Jeremic in The Hague will perform the analysis of the text of the advisory opinion. "This will be a very sophisticated and long text and one should not draw conclusions before a careful analysis," Jeremic stressed. Jeremic said that today was only the beginning of the process that Serbia will go through. "The process ends in the UN General Assembly which must confirm ICJ's opinion and reach a political conclusion on which path to follow," he underscored.
