About 55 percent of businesspeople in Serbia believe that a fixed exchange rate should be implemented. According to a survey by the Institute for Market Research, in which people from over 200 industrial companies from various production sectors were interviewed, the other 45 percent believe that the current exchange rate regime is the best alternative. Business community encourages fixed exchange rate “The reason for these answers is that a large part of the industry is made up of net imports, for which a fixed rate is better, because it would stop the constant increase in prices of the import activities and the increase in expenses because of credit taken out in euros,” Institution official Sasa Djogovic said. The survey shows that most businesspeople have trust in the credit-monetary policies of the National Bank of Serbia. About ten percent have a high level of trust for the central bank, while 60 percent have moderate trust in the NBS. Djogovic said that about 90 percent of businesspeople are against bonuses in the public sector, stating that the state workforce is too large, expensive and ineffective.
