Police in Smederevo have arrested nine persons suspected of smuggling fuel; four of them police officers themselves.

Police in Smederevo have arrested nine persons suspected of smuggling fuel; four of them police officers themselves. They were arrested on Saturday night in Smederevo and Pozarevac. Police arrested for smuggling fuel The suspects are Nenad K. (26). Goran M. (36), Ljubisa Z. (54), from Smederevo, Radosav R. (41) from Despotovac, Vladan M. (31) from Pozarevac and police officers Nebojsa C. (50), Andreja S. (25), Vojkan A. (33) and Darka A. (37). The suspects were informed on several occasions in October 2009 by the police officers and advised to buy diesel fuel from foreign ships traveling on the Danube River near Smederevo, after which the fuel was sold in Smederevo and surrounding towns. They earned more than EUR 1mn in the illegal sales, according to police, and lost about half a million for the Serbian budget. “Ten all-terrain vehicles filled with barrels were confiscated, as well as ten motor boats,” police stated.

Police arrested for smuggling fuel

The suspects are Nenad K. (26). Goran M. (36), Ljubiša Ž. (54), from Smederevo, Radosav R. (41) from Despotovac, Vladan M. (31) from Požarevac and police officers Nebojša Ć. (50), Andreja S. (25), Vojkan A. (33) and Darka A. (37).
