Three Kosovo Serbs suffered light injuries after being attacked by several ethnic Albanians in the northern part of Kosovska Mitrovica. Kosovo police, KPS, spokesperson Besim Hoti said that police arrested the three attackers and that charges would be filed against them. Incidents in northern Kosovo town Hoti said that they would be released pending trial. This is the second serious incident in Kosovska Mitrovica that occurred in the last 24 hours and EULEX police have increased their presence around the city. Hoti added that the attack on the Serbs was an “ethnically motivated” and that it was “probably retaliation” for the recent attack on ethnic Albanians. Six persons, two of whom have been identified as Serb youths, assaulted four Albanian youths in Kosovska Mitrovica on Wednesday night. The flash-point town is divided by the Ibar River into the northern, predominantly Serb area with ethnic Albanian and Bosniak (Muslim) communities, and the southern, ethnic Albanian part where no Serbs live.

Hoti said that they would be released pending trial.

This is the second serious incident in Kosovska Mitrovica that occurred in the last 24 hours and EULEX police have increased their presence around the city.

Six persons, two of whom have been identified as Serb youths, assaulted four Albanian youths in Kosovska Mitrovica on Wednesday night.

The flash-point town is divided by the Ibar River into the northern, predominantly Serb area with ethnic Albanian and Bosniak (Muslim) communities, and the southern, ethnic Albanian part where no Serbs live.
