Bosnia-Herzegovina has met all the requirements for abolishment of the visa regime, said Italian Foreign Minister Franco Frattini. Frattini is on an official visit to Bosnia-Herzegovina. Frattini: Bosnia meets requirements The Italian FM expressed expectation that “two very important political signals” regarding fulfillment of obligations for accession into NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP) would arrive from Bosnia-Herzegovina by the NATO summit in Tallinn on April 23. MAP’s goal is to prepare candidate states for fully-fledged membership in the alliance. After the meeting with members of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s presidency on Tuesday, Frattini pointed out that Italy supported the country’s road toward the EU and NATO, FENA news agency has reported. “Concrete decision can’t be made in a very short period of time, but we talked about the political will, the signal before the meeting in Tallinn,” Frattini stressed. The “first signal" which is expected from Bosnia-Herzegovina concerns the country’s readiness to deploy soldiers to the international mission in Afghanistan, and the other is related to disposal of military equipment, ammunition and light weapons. The Italian FM emphasized that Italy was prepared to strengthen bilateral relations with Bosnia-Herzegovina and to support the drafting of an agreement between the two countries on protection of foreign investments and avoiding of double taxation. “This will certainly further encourage Italian investors who are interested in the electric energy production sector, that is, in renewable energy sources,” he said. Member of Bosnian Presidency Nebojsa Radmanovic pointed out after the meeting that the presidency members had expressed a common belief regarding Bosnia’s road toward the European and Euro-Atlantic integrations and that they had received encouraging signals. According to Radmanovic, Bosnia-Herzegovina has received “encouraging news” regarding the approval of visa-free regime for the country’s citizens during the talks.
