Thaci: Ban supports Kosovo

Kosovo Albanian PM Hashim Thaci commented on UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon's message to implement the strategy for northern Kosovo carefully. “That’s a message of support to Kosovo and the strategy and it is in complete accordance with our vision and goal to communicate and integrate all communities,” Thaci pointed out. In his report to the UN Security Council, Ban expressed concern over the new policy of Pristina toward northern Kosovo and had called on it to carefully implement the new strategy for the part of the territory which has a majority Serb population. The plan to bring Serb areas under Pristina's control was drafted by the International Civilian Office and the Kosovo Albanian government, and is rejected by local Serbs, and official Belgrade. Ban also pointed out that UNMIK has not been consulted during creation and implementation of the strategy. The report also cotnains statements from Kosovo Albanian officials that "there will not be any violence in the process of implementation of the strategy".
