U.S. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg says he is encouraged by the progress Serbia had made in the process of European integrations. He added that he would also discuss issues that the two countries disagree on, the status of Kosovo, during his visit to Belgrade in April. Steinberg said that the "issue of the relations between Belgrade and Pristina" will also be discussed during his meetings with Serbian officials. "I admit that we have disagreements, but we also have common interests, and we will discuss how to overcome those differences, said Steinberg," reiterating that the U.S. stand is that the unilateral declaration of independence by Kosovo "contributed to the stability of the region".
