Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanovic said that it is important for the EU to remain status-neutra in Kosovo. He said that Serbs in northern Kosovska Mitrovica have nothing to worry about regarding the opening of the new so-called “European House” EU office in the city. "EU should remain status-neutral" Ivanovic said that since five of the 27 EU member-states do not recognize Kosovo Albanian unilaterally declared independence, and have no intention of doing so, "the EU must remain neutral in Kosovo". “As long as it remains within that political framework, the EU is a friend and partner to Serbia,” Ivanovic said. He added that the Ministry for Kosovo must be much more visible in the territory. “Honestly, we must take a lot more risk, in the sense of traveling to Kosovo, to even let them arrest us, take us into custody or abuse us – simply, we must show that we treat that territory as a part of our own, not only by the Constitution, but in practice." "It is easily achievable if half the ministry or even 60 percent moves into the two offices in Kosovska Mitrovica and Gracanica and several other local offices which exist all around Kosovo. We are very much needed down there,” Ivanovic said.
