Serbian President Boris Tadic met in Brussels with European Council President Herman van Rompuy. After meeting with Rompuy, Tadic said that Serbia will never recognize Kosovo and that Belgrade has clear guidelines regarding cooperation with the province. Tadic meets with EU's Rompuy He said that Serbia has no reason to block the participation of Kosovo Albanian officials in regional forums, but insists on formulas of the United Nations, in accordance with Resolution 1244. He said that Serbia wants to solve practical questions with Kosovo in accordance with the plan of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. “We recognize that there are countries within the EU that have recognize independence and there are countries that have not, and will never recognize Kosovo’s independence,” Tadic said. He said that this fact shows that the EU is an institution that is neutral in status, as far as Kosovo is concerned. Tadic said that this “enables Serbia to participate in solving concrete questions related to the Serbian southern province.” The Serbian President said that the talk with Rompuy was very good, because he shows a lot of understand towards Serbia’s stances relating to regional questions. He told Rompuy that Serbia is very much against the partition of Bosnia-Herzegovina and supports the Dayton Agreement to the fullest. Tadic said that he, Rompuy, and Croatian President Ivo Josipovic agreed over dinner on Friday that solutions cannot be imposed on Bosnia-Herzegovina. “Everything that the two entities and officials of the three peoples ethnic groups agree on is acceptable for Serbia, and I believe for Croatia as well. That is the principle stance of Serbia,” Tadic said. He said that dialogue between the three ethnic groups in Bosnia must be encouraged in order for the country to continue its European integrations. Tadic added that he will soon be visiting the economic fair in Mostar in order to improve economic cooperation between Serbia and the Bosnian Federation. “Serbia is not only interested in economic cooperation with the Republic of Srpska, but with all of Bosnia-Herzegovina,” Tadic said. “We strongly support the European integration of all countries, Bosnia-Herzegovina included,” he added. Tadic announced that he will be making a historic trip to Albania later this year, and that he will continue dialogue with Croatia, Slovenian, Bosnian, Montenegrin and Macedonian officials. “I think that our cooperation in the region is very good,” Tadic said.
