Koštunica: Kosovo first on agenda with SNS

Opposition DSS leader Vojislav Kostunica said that his party's cooperation with opposition SNS would be dominated by the issue of Kosovo. The first item of our possible program would have to be that Serbia can only join the EU together with its southern province, Kostunica said commenting on the offer of SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic that SNS, DSS and New Serbia (NS) start writing a joint program for "the future government of Serbia". Kostunica: Kosovo first on agenda with SNS "If SNS agrees, we can proceed to discuss the remaining principles," Kostunica said in an interview with daily Vecernje Novosti. He said he will discuss the issue with Nikolic. "The new program should lead toward renewed national unity, which can only stem from a state-building policy that holds Kosovo as an inalienable part of Serbia. I think that we can certainly agree on other, economic and social issues," said the DSS leader. "Now is the time to tell the Serbian people, clearly and honestly, how Serbia will react to the EU's explicit demand that it establish neighborly relations with Kosovo. If Nikolic agrees that the first point of the program states Kosovo is more important than the EU and will never be Serbia's neighbor, because it is a fake state, that will be our joint position on the issue," Kostunica said. According to the DSS leader, the position that there is no alternative to the EU is "highly detrimental".
