U.S. State Secretary Hillary Clinton said that her country is opposed to the breaking up Bosnia-Herzegovina. In her testimonies before U.S. Senate committees, she also reiterated Washington's support for EU and NATO integrations of Western Balkans' countries, Serbia included. U.S. for W. Balkans in EU, NATO Before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, Clinton said that there is a lot of unfinished business and volatile issues that are still to be addressed in Bosnia, and stressed that the U.S. administration does “not want to see any moves to break-up Bosnia”. Responding to the concerns of Senator Jeanne Shaheen, who recently visited the Balkans together with Senator George Vojinovic, that NATO and the EU are experiencing enlargement fatigue and are therefore disinclined to offer Bosnia a membership action plan, Clinton said that the U.S. is encouraging the EU to work with the government in Sarajevo on membership conditions. The U.S. government supports the same path for Serbia as well, she added. “But the NATO piece of it, I'm watching very closely because I share your concerns that we want Bosnia-Herzegovina to feel like they're welcome. And they may not be there yet. But with a little more effort, they could be," Clinton said, according to Voice of America.
