There is operative data that the crime group of Darko Saric blames officials of the Serbian MUP and BIA for its downfall, daily Vecernje Novosti writes. The Serbian underground has been talking about high-ranking officials Rodoljub Milovic, Ivica Petrovic and Bogdan Pusic, as well as others as supposedly having “bounties on their heads”. Saric “had ties with senior officials” These are senior officials of the Interior Ministry (MUP) and Security Information Agency (BIA). Police reacted on Tuesday morning by increasing security measures for protecting all three operatives. Apparently, the drug group had exact information on the participation of these three persons in Operation Balkan Warrior, which last year prevented the smuggling of over two tons of cocaine from Souther America to Europe, and marked Darko Saric as the chief suspect. According to unofficial sources, Saric and members of his criminal group had information during the action regarding the seizing of the drugs, as well as on the investigation and the planned traps at the Paris and Vienna airports. All this, writes the newspaper, points to Saric having close ties with officials of the MUP and other state institutions. The police investigation against the group has been going on for over a year in both Serbia and Italy. In late 2009, after close to three tons of cocaine were seized, the Serbian special prosecution for the fight against organized crime and the Argentinean and Brazilian legislature also got involved.
