Tadic, Josipovic meeting expected soon The negative trend in relations between Serbia and Croatia recently has been dictated by the genocide suit and counter-suit between the two countries before the International Court of Justice and the many unresolved questions regarding the returnee of refugees and their property, as well as problems with unresolved borders. Tadic was the only regional president that did not attend this week’s inauguration of Josipovic as Croatia’s new president. However, rumors have already been heard regarding a meeting between the two that is expected to occur very soon. DS official Dragoljub Micunovic said that Tadic and Josipovic could be meeting within the next month. However, the Foreign Ministry could not confirm whether the meeting was being planned. “We have many unresolved questions which should not be postponed, such as the return of refugees, the construction of infrastructure in places where they would return to, so that their return could be successful, the unresolved border questions, the seized properties, and a very important part of our talks must be the initiative for improving the circumstances of the Croatian minority in Serbia. Because of all of this, communication cannot afford to be delayed,” Veselinovic told Blic. The issue of Croatia’s recognition of Kosovo independence has also put a severe strain on relations with Serbia over the last two years. MP Nebojsa Randjelkovic will also be in Zagreb on Monday, according to Blic, to push the meeting of the two presidents and to speak about the possibility of both countries backing down from their genocide suits files against one another.
