There are presumptions as to where Ratko Mladic is hiding, said Rasim Ljajic in Belgrade on Wednesday. But the labor minister president of the Serbian National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal added that these presumptions “only mean something to people involved in operative activities regarding the search for this Hague fugitive”. Ljajic on Mladic, resolutions, strikes Ljajic, who recently resigned from the Action Team for locating and arresting of Hague fugitives Ratko Mladic and Goran Hadzic, said in an interview for the state broadcaster RTS that all information is shared with the Hague representatives. Owing to this, Ljajic added, Serbia and its military and civil security services have gained trust of the international community and the Hague, hence the positive report of Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammertz. Ljajic also said that he “does not wish to fall into a trap by claiming that Mladic is or is not in Serbia, because the only truth is that the authorized bodies do not know where he actually is”. He also commented on a statement made by the deputy high international representative in Bosnia, Raffi Gergroian, that Mladic was “in Serbia”, as a means of political pressure against Serbia. “That statement has an exclusively political tone and the purpose of increasing the political pressure on Serbia,” said Ljajic. “Two resolutions healthy compromise” “Two resolutions healthy compromise” Ljajic also assessed that two resolutions regarding the condemnation of crimes in Srebrenica and other crimes in the territory of former Yugoslavia are a “logical formula” and a “healthy compromise”. Ljajic said that consultations regarding these resolutions are underway, adding that they will be brought before parliament at the beginning of next month and that he expects that they will soon be adopted. Ljajic admitted that he is surprised by the number of protests and strikes, but he noticed that they cannot be put in the same basket, as there are expressions of dissatisfaction which are completely justified, those which are partly justified and those completely unjustified. “What is necessary is to be clear and honest and not to make promises that cannot be kept, because if a precedent is made and we start buying social peace in a cheap way, it will soon backfire to the Serbian government,” Ljajic underscored.
