RS PM Milorad Dodik says he is not opposed to Serbian President Boris Tadic’s position not to support a referendum which would lead to the break-up of Bosnia. “This is an expected and relevant statement of the president of a country which is a Dayton Accord guarantor." Dodik: No harm from Tadic statement "Just as we in RS are doing everything to keep Bosnia-Herzegovina from recognizing Kosovo and in that way support Serbia’s territorial integrity, it is completely natural that Serbia is supporting Bosnia-Herzegovina’s territorial integrity,” the Bosnian Serb leader told Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti. Dodik also said that the idea about an independence referendum in the Serb entity of Bosnia has been taken out of the context “completely”. “We in RS want a referendum on the respect of the Dayton Accord because we disagree with imposed decisions of the high representative. We must point out that the Serbian president also said that Serbia would never make a decision which would jeopardize the position of RS, so his stance is expected and fair,” he stressed. Commenting on the Serbian parliament’s intent to adopt a resolution on Srebrenica, Dodik said that nobody from Serbia had consulted with him. “Nobody asked us and I do not see why they would. Without asking Serbia, five years ago RS adopted a resolution noting that a mass crime was committed in this small town. The International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Bosnia-Herzegovina’s lawsuit against Serbia then ruled that the genocide was local. None of this is questionable,” the RS premier siad. According to Dodik, the problem with a Srebrenica resolution is that it is making all other crimes relative. “The story about Srebrenica brings us to a place where all the suffering in our unfortunate war years comes down to a single event, which minimizes all other victims, which are numerous,” Dodik concluded.
