The Serbian government has decided to suspend until further notice the purchase of swine flu vaccines. Serbia has a contract to buy some three million units from Swiss manufacturer Novartis. Health Minister Tomica Milosavljevic said that the inoculation of the citizens will continue. “We have 850,000 doses and we do not have to take the rest of the vaccines. We are not giving up on the vaccination, but by February 20 will be propose appropriate measures to the government based on epidemiological analyses,” said he. All this comes as the inoculation, which started on December 17, thus far produced disappointing results, with about 1.7 percent of Serbia's population receiving the swine flu vaccine.
