Social Democratic Party candidate Ivo Josipovic had a convincing win in the second round of presidential elections in Croatia. According to the first official results from the state election commission, Josipovic won 60.29 percent of the vote, and independent candidate Milan Bandic received 39.71 percent. Josipovic elected new Croatian president In his first public address after the elections, the next Croatian president thanked his family and everyone who participated in the election, stating that he will be a president for all the citizens of Croatia. He also had a message for those that did not vote for him. “I want to be your president, because I do not want to divide, I want to unite. I stand here before you all, I am offering my hand and saying—I will serve you, I will serve Croatia. Prime Minister Jadranka Kosor congratulated Josipovic, calling for cooperation and adding that Josipovic’s victory is a victory for a European Croatia. According to official data, 50.28 percent of registered voters in Croatia participated in the second round of the presidential elections.
