Police in south seize 2.4 kilos of heroin

Serbian police (MUP) in Niš confiscated 2.5 kilograms of heroin in the territory of the southern municipality of Pirot, it was announced.

MUP also said that raids of two apartments in Pirot and arrests of two suspects also effectively mean that a smuggling channel from Turkey has been cut. Police in south seize 2.4 kilos of heroin The suspects were identified as D.S., 26, and V.P., 26, and they will be charged with illegal manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics. The "Turkish package", said NIS PU (police directorate) chief Zoran Stanojevic, was meant for that city's drug market. He also stated that some 130 kilograms of narcotics were seized by the town's police this year, including 32 kilograms of heroin. During 2009, in cooperation with "other security structures", Stanojevic explained, "13 drug smuggling channels have been cut".

The suspects were identified as D.S., 26, and V.P., 26, and they will be charged with illegal manufacturing and trafficking of narcotics.

He also stated that some 130 kilograms of narcotics were seized by the town's police this year, including 32 kilograms of heroin.
