Leader of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (SVM) Istvan Pastor says his party "had not changed its positions in the Serbian parliamentary system". He also underlined that the refusal of SVM MPs to vote for the budget recently was the result of disagreement over the attitude toward Vojvodina, rather than the wish to topple the government. SVM "doesn't want to topple government" In an interview for the Friday edition of Belgrade daily Politika, Pastor said there were not talks with the opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS), and stressed that he had "not met with SNS leader Tomislav Nikolic on June 18 when Nikolic was a guest at the celebration of SVM's anniversary", nor, said Pastor, had he conferred in Novi Sad with Serbian President and leader of the ruling Democratic Party (DS), Boris Tadic. “Had we wanted to topple the government, we would have done that in a different manner. We explained our position and there is no need for me to elaborate on it once again. Part of the parliamentary battle is also to present different stands and different opinions, and I do not see what is so tragic about that. Our coalition partners also had a different stand regarding certain issues,” Pastor said.
