Albanian PM Sali Berisha says he "intensely lobbied" participants of the recent Copenhagen conference to recognize Kosovo. The UN conference in Denmark was organized to discuss climate change, and Berisha says that he used his "40-hour stay" there to meet with "several presidents and prime ministers of the countries that have not yet recognized Kosovo". Albanian PM "lobbies for recognitions" "That was the most intensive lobbying ever done, considering the special circumstances," revealed Berisha to reporters, when he returned to Tirana. Deutsche Welle quotes Albania's news agency ATA, which reported that Berisha said he "noted readiness in all his meetings to consider the necessity to recognize Kosovo as a real contribution of those countries to peace and stability in the region". Kosovo's ethnic Albanians unilaterally declared independence in February 2008 – something that was rejected by Belgrade as an illegal act.
